Glenn Cunningham

When he was five years, Glenn Cunningham suffered severe burns leg section. The treating physician was forced to raise their hands. According to the diagnosis, Glenn will remain disabled and uses a wheelchair all his life. "He will not be able to walk again." Said a doctor.

Doctors may indeed check Glenn leg, but they do not see the bottom of Glenn heart  Glenn was never concerned with their words. He sure would be able to resume running.

Above her bed with legs that are still visible burn scars he vowed. "Next week I'll get out of bed, I'll walk." And it's really done Glenn.

Mrs. Glenn said she used to see Glenn practiced walking with holding the handle of the plow that was not used again in his yard. With all the pain experienced by Glenn, the closer on his promise to get back running. Not long after that Glenn was able to run with the slower, more and more quickly and with a lively movement.

"I'm beginning was sure I could walk again, and it really can. Now I'll run faster than anyone else. "And Glenn successful business.

He became a formidable sprinter to a distance of one mile. In 1936 recorded the fastest time of 4:06 minutes which is the world record for that time. Glenn received an award as the outstanding athlete of this century at Madison Square Garden.

The lesson we can learn is "NEVER GIVE UP". That is done and is believed to Glenn to get back running. Glenn was never concerned with the assumption that doctors say he will not be able to walk again.

Glenn kept trying and trying even have to bear the pain was so severe. But the pain was the one who makes it can be resumed, Glenn did not complain and do not judge anyone for the fire incident but he remained strong and brave to face it all.

An attitude that is very inappropriate for us to imitate, do not ever give up and always believe that what we want to achieve and we believe we have achieved very, and certainly with an aggressive effort to achieve that dream.

My Mascot

The people who volunteered to help 89-year-old man was secretly planning a celebration for him. Doctors who have retired but still active that one leg amputated two years ago. It's not easy for him to adapt to life with only one leg, and arguably should always sit in a wheelchair.

The room was filled with festive decorations with relatives, friends and volunteers. The doctor looked at the people gathered and waved a hand towards the sweet girl who was six years old, the grandson of one of those who helped the doctor, motioned for the girl approached. He embraced the girl introduced her to the audience with the words, "She is my mascot!" He later told me that he could never forget the first time the girl came to visit him.

The girl came in and looked at him. She saw the doctor's pants legs folded in a wheelchair. The girl then asked with a sweet voice, "Where's your protesis?" The doctor was dumbfounded, did not think that the term was known to the girl. The girl shows her artificial leg and then told her: when she was 3 years old, there was a robber broke into her home. Robbers killed her younger brother who was 17 months and slashed her leg with a machete until the end.

Elderly man said that the little girl made her realize that she should not complain --- even grateful that he can live for 88 years with complete limbs. There is a special bond that connects them both. The little girl was proud to help an elderly man. While the doctor --- there is a special smile for the little girl who walked with a step cheerful and vibrant --- her artificial legs aside the obstacles that may exist in front.

Jam

The year was 1933. I have just laid off from my part time job, so can no longer take part to contribute to family living. The only revenue we are able to be obtained mother with sewing clothes. Then the mother fell ill for several weeks and therefore can not work. Electricity, gas and water flow stopped because we were late paying.

Our larder is almost never done it again. We have a vegetable garden and to cook some of the results by using a fire pit in the backyard.

Then one day my sister came as he jumped up and down came home from school, she said, "Tomorrow we were told to bring something to give to the poor."

Mom immediately said, "I do not know who is still poorer than us." When the grandmother who lived with us, holding her hand, frowning to tell mom silent.

"Eva" grandma said, "If you make your son feel that she was 'the poor' at her young age, she will become 'the poor' a lifetime. In the larder there is still a jam jar of our own. It can be brought to school tomorrow. "

Grandma found a piece of tissue paper and blue ribbon. With these materials wrapped jam jar and the next day's sister went to school proudly bring 'gifts to the poor'. After that, if there is a problem in  her neighborhood, she naturally assumes that he took part in the settlement.

Do not ever feel we are 'poor'. Because we still have a God who is so rich that bestow blessings upon us healthy, to be able to live the life.

People who are grateful to the little things certainly are people who are often most grateful.

Wrong Number

My mother died recently, after almost a year the state kept changing her illness. Her life was bland since the father died. But last year was really hard for her. For my mother, Marge. Life has no meaning anymore without George, her husband. There are no friends live, friends joke, nothing else is there to be loved. Indeed we are still there, but her life is no longer as before, without a father. We can understand it.

In the hospital, suddenly the mother's condition is declining. My sister, Betsy informed. She hurried away to the hospital. Previously she had time to send a message to her husband, Andy. Andy immediately contacted the hospital. Andy knew that Mother was lying on the floor seven. He tried to remember her room number. 7226? 7626? 7662? Finally he contacted the hospital telephone operator for help are linked. He said that he wanted to talk with Marge Mueth. Pronounced the name of Mother: "M-U-E-T-H"

"She lay in room 3643," said the operator. "Let me connect."

Andy does not understand why my mother moved to another room. Andy heard a male voice answered after connecting operator. Andy grew confused, because it does not recognize the voice. He drew the conclusion that the operator had the wrong number. "Sorry", he said, "It seems wrong number. I would like to contact Mueth."

The man replied, "You are correct. It's George who spoke." Shocked Andy. "No, I think I mistakenly connected to another room. I am looking for Marge Mueth. "

When answering, the man across the man's voice sounded merry connection, "That's my wife. I'm here to pick him home. "

Andy hung up the phone with a feeling of amazement. He called the operator again and asked to be connected with Marge Mueth, seventh floor. Operator connect it to the room 7226. Betsy who answered the phone while bordering on Mother's room.

Billy, son Andy. Concludes the scene with the innocence and wisdom of a child: "Grandfather came here to pick up my grandmother to come home." Betsy just crying and asking myself, why so long "Grandpa" just arrived.

Little Angel

My experience photographing children has more than twenty years. On one particular occasion, the thanksgiving day one of them give away something special to me. She was a sweet baby was six months back in the carriage.

"Emily's situation is not so good today." Her mother said. The baby does look feverish. Her head fell to the side several times while she tried to stand upright. Some times you tried to shoot, but to no avail. Finally I approached the baby's face and then talk to her, "You look like a little angel." I said.

Suddenly the baby's attitude changed, no longer moving weak. She looked at me as if to say, "I'm fine, just how I was doing just that is not feeling well today." Because Emily seems like a little angel, I then decided to take a photo with a dressed up like an angel.

My pair of existing equipment in my studio, white wings made of duck feathers smooth, soft and pure white. I placed a small crown on her head made of flower arrangements. I was busy photographing my little angel, who sat in a chair with an attitude of embracing middle clouds decor.

As long as it is noticed that her mother cried softly, "She's an angel, just yesterday you know that she was born with brain defects are very rare. Thanksgiving feast today is the first and last time we can together," the mother said, weeping. "The possibility of live infants with such defects was not until a year. When I was pregnant, I followed all the doctor's advice. No smoking, adjusting the diet, but her brain did not develop further on the circumstances at birth. There were only 435 cases of brain defects such as these throughout the known." The mother said.

"You look at Emily who was actually a little angel. She descended to earth to tell us that God wants us grateful for what we have. Sometimes, when we asked her to speak, she then became so calm and peaceful. She also babbled in baby language. Looks like we can catch her baby language, as if she were about talking on us. We did not know was how much longer she will be with us. You have to capture our little angel." Mother said.

My neck feels like a clogged hear that story. With a voice hoarse with emotion I said, 'Thank you for the opportunity to share this experience, I am grateful that this little angel came over to me. "
